Katie was born and raised in Abilene. After graduating from Abilene High School, Katie attended Texas Tech University and graduated in 2010 with her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications. She graduated from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2013 and has been licensed to practice law in Texas since November of 2013.
Katie began her law career working for the Estate Planning Department at Wells Fargo Bank in Austin Texas, during which time she administered estates and trusts in various jurisdictions nationwide.
Katie moved back to Abilene in March of 2014 and began working for First Financial Trust and Asset Management Company, where she managed and administered investment, retirement, trust and estate accounts for individuals, corporations, and non-profit organizations. Because of her law background, she also specialized in Special Needs Trust administration.
In March of 2016, Katie begin practicing law as an associate attorney at The Whitten Law Firm, P.C. During her time at Whitten, the majority of Katie’s practice was devoted to estate planning, probate, estate and trust administration, estate litigation, elder law, and guardianship; however, Katie was fortunate enough to garner experience in many other areas of civil law, including real estate, business entity formation, general civil litigation, and the eviction process, including appeals.
Katie is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Abilene Bar Association, Abilene Young LawyerAssociation, Texas Bar Association (Real Estate, Probate, and Trust LawSection), and the Abilene Zoo Board. Katie is Ad Litem Certified and a member of the Texas Bar College. She is licensed to practice law in all Texas courts and the Supreme Court of the United States of America.
In Katie’s free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and pets, officiating football with her Dad, cheering on her Red Raiders, and traveling.
